Winter in Florida - Part One

 I've just returned from my holiday vacation in Florida, and it was wonderful! This was the first time I've ever been away from home for the holidays and, while I missed my family, I realized how much I needed to get out of town and relax for awhile.

 These photos were taken while Ben and I were kayaking along a waterway in Halpatiokee Park. Yes, that's an alligator there in the water. eek!

 This Pacific Northwest girl was in awe of the swampy surroundings- we could have been in a different country for all I knew... I've never seen anything like this before. So beautiful.

 This wood stork is flying away from us. He looked more like a pterodactyl than a bird to me.

 I was trying really hard to hold my camera steady to take this shot. Look at the size of that gator! {And in case you're wondering, this was not a tour or group kayak- this was just me & Ben. And alligators.}

 There are actually three turtles here... one is poking his head out of the water.

 Another wood stork... she's hard to see but she's right there in the middle of the frame.

So lovely.
More photos soon!
